Null Reference On Start up

okay so i just bought the game on steam, downloaded it and tried to play and bang!

null reference exception at ydhl.licegameinitcomponent.showloadinggamedata message etc etc

running win 7 64bit - 1920x1080

help me make the game work!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

Sorry to hear that you have problems with the game.

Is the error message the first thing you see?
Or do you see part of the loading screens first? If yes, how far does the game get before the exception? What is the last thing you see (what does it say on screen)?
Could you post a screenshot of the error message window (or send it to me via email, see http://www.spyn-doctor.de/contact.html for address)?
Are you playing with Steam online or offline?
Did it ever work, or has this already happened on the very first startup?
Did you try out the demo before you bought the game? And if yes, did the demo work?

Oh, and what's your Steam ID (the one that you used to buy the game)? Could be that this is a problem with the Steam servers, and if I contact Valve about it, they likely need to know which Steam ID is affected by this...

oddly strange - the game started and nothing changed but i used to get the first 2 splash screens (1st for spyn doctors and then 1up) and then i would get the error - i've attached a screenshot of what happened but at the moment its working!

So if I understand you correctly, then right now you don't have the problem anymore?
So it's not very urgent anymore?

Because I have analyzed the problem, and I found a situation where this exception can happen, but only if the loading during startup of the game is veeeeery slow (several orders of magnitude slower than even on the slowest computer I ever tested with). So it seems to be a timing problem that happens very, very seldomly.

I will of course fix it anyway, but if it isn't really urgent anymore, I'll just fix it whenever I release a new build the next time.

Hi

Now its happening again - is there anything else i can check? i tried running with both sli enabled and disabled

running with steam online and offline

appears to just be randon!

install latest updates on your windows and it should work flawlesly

also some of the additional updates like netframework make difference
